Intermediate Firearms Course

A Shepherds Tactical Training Course

The Intermediate Firearms Training Course is designed for students who have completed Beginner Firearms Safety Training or who already possess a solid understanding of basic firearm safety and handling. This course builds on foundational knowledge and introduces students to live-fire range experience in a structured, supportive, and closely supervised environment.

The course begins with a guided review of key concepts from the Beginner Firearms Safety Training Course, along with additional instruction appropriate for the intermediate level. This portion expands on prior knowledge and introduces concepts students will apply during dry fire and live-fire training. Expectations, safety considerations, and range procedures are clearly covered so students feel prepared and confident moving forward.

Students then participate in dry fire practice using laser-based training technology. This portion reinforces safe firearm manipulation, trigger control, sight alignment, and accuracy fundamentals without live ammunition. Dry fire training allows students to refine technique and build confidence before transitioning to the range.

Following the instructional and dry fire portions, students are required to successfully complete a knowledge and skills assessment. This assessment confirms understanding of the material and readiness to move forward into live-fire training.

After successful completion of the dry fire portion, students move to a live-fire range. Live fire is conducted under the direct supervision of qualified range officers and instructors at all times. During live-fire training, students focus on basic range safety and commands, proper stance and grip, controlled stationary shooting from a fixed position, and accuracy and consistency fundamentals. This is a basic range course with no movement, advanced drills, or dynamic shooting. The emphasis remains on safety, control, and proper fundamentals while firing.

Courses generally last three to five hours, depending on student needs, pace, and range logistics. Pricing for the Intermediate Firearms Training Course starts at $200 per person, with adjustments based on course structure, range fees, or group size. Discounts are available for additional students taking the course together.

This course is designed to provide a smooth, confidence-building transition from classroom and dry fire training into live-fire practice, ensuring students experience the range in a safe, calm, and well-supported setting.
